Inkjet cartridges are the ink containers in an inkjet printer. Inkjet printers were developed when it was discovered that applying heat to a container of ink made a small spot of ink spray out of the end of the container. This was a breakthough as the accuracy of these tiny dots was very good compared to the old dot-matrix printers available at that time.

Original equipment manufacturers (commonly known as OEMs) supply inkjet cartridges for their printers but in almost every case these cartridges are very expensive. It sometimes costs almost as much to buy a replacement inkjet cartridge as you paid for the whole printer.

There used to be some concerns about the quality of unbranded alternative inkjet cartridges I have found alternative suppliers cartridges perfectly adequate for my needs though the printer manufacturers always claim that their own brand products are better quality than alternative inkcartridge suppliers.

The Cost Of Replacement Inkjet Cartridges

You should consider the cost and whether you feel the extra cost of the original brand name printer cartridge is justified for you compared with the lower cost replacement inkjet cartridges.
